Q&A – Frequently asked questions

How can I get to work or take part in training with you?
We publish job and training vacancies on the Job Vacancies page. When you find a position that interests you, you can apply for it by filling in an application through the recruitment system.

Training vacancies mean that we recruit people for certain positions (e.g. conductor, train driver, railway yard tasks) through training. When you fill in an electronic application in our recruitment system, your application is included in the application process.

Can I send my application directly to the recruiting supervisor?
In order to manage applications, we make all appointments through our recruitment system. More information is available at rekrytointi(a)vr.fi.

Can I use my LinkedIn profile to apply?
Yes. You can use your LinkedIn profile as the basis for your application. Click the LinkedIn button on the application form and then log in to your LinkedIn account. Then continue to complete the application form. Please note that the information from LinkedIn will be copied according to the language you used to fill in the form.

How does the application process proceed?
Once you have filled in the application, you will receive an email with a message that your application has been saved in the system. You will also receive instructions to complete or update your application if necessary. We will carefully review all applications. Based on the application, we invite the most suitable people to the next step of the recruitment process. The recruitment application process varies slightly depending on the position.

What are your selection criteria?
Each position has different selection criteria that are outlined in the job vacancy advertisement. In our employees, we value ambition and responsibility, as well as the ability to cooperate and innovate.

How can I get an internship or do a thesis for you?
We advertise internships and thesis opportunities at higher education institutions on the Open positions pages and on the websites of suitable educational institutions. You can also submit your open internship/thesis application to us in the near future, in which case we will contact you if an internship/thesis is possible. This possibility will be activated in January 2024.

Are you hiring summer workers?
Yes, the first summer jobs will be open for application on the Summer jobs page, usually in January–March. New jobs will be made available throughout the spring, so if you are interested in our summer jobs, please follow our advertisements.
